Lyle Gardinier

Deceased Date: 2017-07-11
Obituary:
Lyle Edwin Gardinier, 59, passed away suddenly of natural causes on July 11, at his new home in Ellensburg. He was born December 22, 1957 in Ellensburg, WA to Eldon (Pete) Peterson and Avadene Tavis-Peterson. Lyle spent his first 5 years as a U.S. Air Force "brat" living in Montana. He, his mother and sister returned to Ellensburg after his father's untimely death.
Most of Lyle's life was spent in Kittitas Valley and on the farm of Bob Gardinier, whom his mother married in 1966 and who adopted Lyle and his sister Pam a year later. Lyle experienced a typical farm life, working with his dad, hunting and fishing, joining 4-H and being a victim of Bob's many practical jokes.
Graduating from Ellensburg High School in 1976, Lyle attended CWU, later graduating from the University of Montana. After he and Rhonda Ensign married in 1981, they moved to Spokane where he worked as a supervisor for Air Pollution Control in Spokane County. Lyle's work took him to Ferry County and Grant County in government related jobs.
Recently Lyle returned to Ellesnburg where he resided at the time of his death.
Lyle was preceded in death by his father Bob Gardinier.
Lyle is survived by his mother Avadene Gardinier, Rhonda, his former wife of 28 years and four children; Martin David, Carrie Dawn, Robert Daniel and Mackenzie Ann, his sister Pamela (Steve Haberman), brother Steve as well as four nieces and nephews and his recent companion Laura Pattie of Seattle.
The family would like to thank friends for their concern and help. Funeral arrangements are pending and any contributions may be made to a  charity of your choice in Lyle's name.

Obituary:
Scott Stewart PATRICK
Beloved husband and father, son, brother and friend, Scott Stewart Patrick died peacefully in the early morning of November 1, 2008 of brain cancer. He was 51.
With a big heart and an easy smile, Scott lived life large and was deeply loved by many people. He is remembered for his great sense of fun, deep integrity, strong faith, and his amazing grace, generosity and kindness.

Born in Seattle in 1957, Scott grew up in Ellensburg where he was an outstanding high school football and baseball player. Scott graduated from the University of Washington in 1980 with a degree in Communications which he used to begin a long career in sports marketing. Scott first coordinated local LPGA and PGA golf tournaments. He then spent 11 seasons with the Seattle Sonics, including five as the Sonics' VP of Corporate Sponsorship and Broadcasting. In 1996, Scott began working for the Seattle Seahawks and became their VP of Partnership Development. Described by a colleague as the grand master of Seattle sports marketing, Scott enjoyed the good fortune of helping to open both Key Arena and Qwest Field.

Scott was dedicated to helping people, particularly kids in his neighborhood and young adults. He coached youth sports and attended countless sporting events to cheer on his son Brooks, daughter Bailee, and many nieces and nephews and their friends. Scott and his family are members of Newport Covenant Church in Bellevue, WA, where he volunteered in youth ministry as a confirmation mentor and small group leader. For eight years he served as a practicum sponsor of the University of Washington Business Schools' Sales Program. Scott helped many recent college graduates begin their careers in sports marketing with internships and advice. Particularly important to him, after other positions on boards including the Seattle Aquarium, was his work as a board member of the Chris Elliott Fund which raises money for brain cancer research.
An avid golfer, Scott played many courses across America, Scotland and Ireland, declaring St. Andrews his favorite. He once said he would love to play all the great golf courses of the world as he loved challenge and variety.

Scott married Ronda Brooks, in April 1989; they have lived in Bellevue for the past 19 years with their two children. In addition to Ronda, Brooks and Bailee, Scott is survived by his mother and stepfather, Nona and Bob Nicholson, his brother Randy Patrick (wife Susi, children Cameron and Ariana), and his sister Heather Patrick Ahlstrom (husband Dale). Scott was the son of the late Archie S. Patrick, and son-in-law to James and Lillian Brooks, of Ellensburg, WA. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law Carol Findley (Jerry) and Marla Bailey (Rick), and his brothers-in-law Brian Brooks (Karen) and Kenneth Brooks (Kristy), and their families.

His family and friends are left with many great memories of his love of fun and laughter. Scott leaves behind both personal and professional legacies, the most important of which may be the example of how one individual can impact hundreds of people by simply being kind and showing a genuine interest in their lives and well-being. He was a man of many talents and loved by all.
